President Marcos has declared special non-working days in five municipalities and three cities in January 2026 to allow residents to participate in local founding anniversaries, festivals, and city fiestas.
Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, and Bauang, La Union, will observe Jan. 5 for their 440th Founding Anniversaries, while Currimao, Ilocos Norte, will mark its Founding Anniversary on Jan. 21.
Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental, and Batangas City will have special holidays on Jan. 6 and Jan. 16, respectively, for their charter anniversary and city fiesta.
Koronadal City, South Cotabato, and Tantangan, South Cotabato, will celebrate local anniversaries and festivals on Jan. 9 and Jan. 27, while Lian, Batangas, will observe its Liberation Day on Jan. 31.
The proclamations were signed in mid-December following requests from local governments highlighting the importance of these events to community life.
