The University of the Philippines (UP) strongly condemned the brutal killing of UP Diliman student Sophia Coquilla, who was found murdered in her home in Tagum City on July 9.
The university expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and described the incident as a senseless act of violence that cut short a promising life.
UP extended sympathies to Coquilla’s family and urged affected students and community members to seek support through its psychosocial services.
The university called for a swift, transparent, and comprehensive investigation by law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice.
UP reaffirmed its commitment to protecting human rights and demanded accountability, joining calls nationwide for justice for Sophia.
