Iloilo City has tightened regulations on the transport and slaughter of livestock to strengthen biosecurity and ensure food safety compliance.
Under Memorandum Order No. 234 signed by Mayor Raisa Treñas, all hogs, cattle, and carabao brought to the city slaughterhouse must be slaughtered within 24 hours of arrival.
The updated rules also require stricter documentation, including veterinary health certificates, travel permits, and clearances depending on the shipment route and type of livestock.
City officials said the measures aim to improve animal traceability and prevent the spread of diseases.
Violators may face quarantine orders, administrative sanctions, or penalties under local and national meat inspection laws.
