Power supply across the Philippine grid improved in December 2025, with system-wide capacity rising to 20,233 MW while demand fell slightly to 13,440 MW, the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) reported.
The overall supply margin widened to 4,798 MW, easing national electricity conditions.
However, the Visayas and Mindanao faced tighter supply due to plant outages and transmission constraints, pushing electricity prices higher in those regions.
The system-wide average energy price rose to P4.38 per kilowatt-hour, while Luzon enjoyed lower prices at P2.98 per kWh due to better supply and falling demand.
IEMOP noted that Visayas normally relies on power imports from Luzon, but regional limitations contributed to the price increases in Visayas and Mindanao.
