Brazil, the Philippines’ top meat supplier, is seeking to expand into value-added food markets such as coffee, mineral water, and liquor to strengthen trade ties.
Through its embassy in Manila, Brazil is participating in the World Food Expo (WOFEX) to showcase products including coffee beans, soluble coffee, gin, vodka, cachaça, and mineral water, with some companies debuting at the event.
Brazilian Ambassador Gilberto Fonseca Guimarães de Moura highlighted opportunities in the Philippine hotel, restaurant, café, and specialized store sectors, noting growing demand for sustainable and health-conscious products among an expanding middle class.
Brazil, the world’s top coffee producer, aims to introduce its “coffee culture” to the Philippines, where soluble coffee consumption is high, while also promoting natural alkaline mineral water and uniquely infused liquors.
Last year, Philippine imports of Brazilian coffee beans doubled to $4.8 million, and Brazil continues to explore niche markets beyond meat, including beverages and other value-added goods.
