The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sent a psychological first aid (PFA) team to Myanmar on Friday to assist overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake on March 28.
The team, consisting of eight members including social welfare officers and a psychologist, will also carry out a humanitarian mission for survivors.
In addition to offering counseling, the DSWD has provided P10,000 in cash assistance to the families of the deceased OFWs and initiated counseling sessions for their relatives in the Philippines.
The Philippine Rapid Response Deployment Team (RRDT), which includes officials from DSWD, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Department of Health, has been working closely with the Philippine embassy to support the affected families.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team (PEMAT) in Myanmar has been offering medical care to 118 patients daily, focusing on chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
