RECTO CALLS FOR BALANCED SECURITY, RESPECT FOR PROTESTERS DURING SONA

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto directed law enforcement agencies to respect the public’s right to peaceful protest while remaining firm against violence during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27.

He emphasized balancing public safety with constitutional rights and called for stronger coordination among the PNP, MMDA, AFP, and Presidential Security Command.

Authorities were instructed to ensure effective security, traffic management, and rapid response to incidents.

Recto also stressed the importance of close coordination and clear communication among government agencies.

The goal is to keep the SONA peaceful, orderly, and safe for both participants and the public.
