The Department of Health has launched a measles and rubella vaccination campaign targeting around 1.2 million children below five years old in Metro Manila to strengthen protection against preventable diseases.
Health officials warned that measles can lead to severe complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis, blindness, and even death, especially among unvaccinated children.
The “Ligtas Tigdas” campaign was officially kicked off in Muntinlupa City, with additional vaccination sites set up by local governments to improve accessibility.
DOH-Metro Manila Center for Health Development said the expanded rollout aims to ensure wider immunization coverage across communities.
The initiative is supported by local government units and partner agencies to help prevent potential outbreaks in the region.
