Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the nationwide launch of Brigada Eskwela 2026 in Agusan del Norte, kicking off preparations for the opening of classes on June 8.
The initiative is being strengthened through a partnership between the Department of Education and the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD program, which will deploy 240,000 temporary workers to assist in school readiness activities nationwide.
With a P2-billion allocation from TUPAD, beneficiaries will help clean classrooms, clear vegetation, repaint facilities, and carry out other non-technical campus improvement projects.
Priority will be given to large schools, geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, underserved communities, and disaster-affected locations.
During the launch, Angara joined volunteers in preparing school facilities by painting a blackboard and a table, highlighting the spirit of community participation in ensuring schools are ready for the new academic year.
