DOTR, CAAP UNVEIL P253-M SIMULATORS FOR AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) launched three new air traffic control simulators worth P253 million to enhance aviation training and safety.

The new Aerodrome, Approach, and Enroute simulators replicate real-world air traffic control scenarios, allowing trainees to practice in a controlled environment.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Lopez said the project supports the government’s efforts to modernize aviation facilities and develop skilled personnel.

CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario said the upgraded equipment will reduce training time from nine months to six months, helping address the shortage of air traffic controllers.

The simulators are also expected to improve trainees’ decision-making, coordination, and operational readiness while meeting international aviation standards.
