Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the Philippines during its 68th National Day celebration held in Davao City.
Consul General Deddy Faisal Bin Ahmad Salleh highlighted the strong partnership based on trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connections, with bilateral trade reaching $8.3 billion in 2024.
The event showcased joint projects such as the Davao Public Transport Modernization and renewable energy initiatives by Malaysian firms in Mindanao.
Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Leo Tereso Magno emphasized ongoing regional cooperation through BIMP-EAGA to promote inclusive growth and connectivity.
Malaysia also reaffirmed its support for the Bangsamoro peace process and pledged full backing for the Philippines’ upcoming ASEAN chairmanship.
