Executive Secretary Ralph Recto announced that the government has secured a firm order of 1.04 million barrels of diesel, with the first batch expected to arrive this week.
The procurement was credited to the efforts of Energy Secretary Sharon Garin and her team.
The Philippines will also continue receiving a steady supply of coal from Indonesia.
President Marcos confirmed that the country’s crude oil supply is sufficient to last until June 30, 2026, supported by a 45-day fuel reserve and an additional 1 million barrels as a buffer stock.
Recently, over 700,000 barrels of Russian crude arrived, highlighting the country’s reliance on imported oil amid Middle East tensions.
