President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the first gas delivery from Malampaya’s Phase 4 Project in Batangas, marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s energy security.
The newly developed Malampaya East-1 and Camago-3 wells added an estimated 222 billion cubic feet of natural gas reserves.
Marcos said maximizing local gas resources could help stabilize electricity supply and reduce dependence on imported energy.
The project is expected to generate enough electricity to power 13.11 million Filipino households for one year.
He also emphasized the government’s commitment to developing local energy resources to support the country’s growing demand.
