Acting Communications Secretary Lino Cayetano said he will not accept Palace Press Officer Claire Castro’s courtesy resignation after asking all Presidential Communications Office (PCO) undersecretaries and assistant secretaries to submit theirs.
Cayetano praised Castro’s communication skills and combative approach in defending the administration’s policies, describing her as a valuable member of the government.
He also said he wants to continue working closely with Castro on the PCO’s plans, including initiatives focused on digitalization and more community engagement.
Cayetano did not give a deadline for deciding on the other officials’ resignations, saying the evaluation of his team would be an ongoing process.
He became the PCO chief on October 13 after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed him to replace Dave Gomez.
