Manulife Investment Management and Trust Corp. has received approval from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to offer a unit investment trust fund under the Personal Equity and Retirement Account (PERA) program.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue announced the approval through Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 111-2026, expanding the tax-advantaged retirement investment options available to Filipinos.
The new product, called the Manulife Global Semiconductor Opportunities Equity PERA Feeder Fund, is a peso-denominated fund designed for aggressive investors seeking exposure to the global semiconductor industry.
The BSP regulates and approves investment trust funds intended for retirement savings under the PERA Act of 2008.
The BIR clarified that income and reinvestments from PERA assets are exempt from income tax only when placed in duly approved or accredited investment products, including qualified government securities.
