The Supreme Court has approved the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across all levels of courts in the Philippines.
The resolution establishes a “Governance Framework on the Use of Human-Centered Augmented Intelligence in the Judiciary,” enabling AI to assist with tasks such as transcription, translation, legal research, document summarization, and data redaction.
The SC emphasized that AI is intended to support, not replace, human decision-making, and that no AI output can serve as the sole basis for any judgment.
All parties involved in designing or using AI tools must be disclosed, and the court will conduct consultations and strengthen monitoring, auditing, and cybersecurity.
The guidelines were developed by a panel led by Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen to ensure the ethical and responsible use of AI while maintaining public trust in the judiciary.
