The Supreme Court and the Office of the Ombudsman renewed partnerships with United Nations agencies to strengthen judicial independence and anti-corruption efforts in the Philippines.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla met with officials of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to discuss training programs on financial investigations, anti-money laundering, corruption prosecution, and asset recovery.
The two sides also explored the creation of a unified National Anti-Corruption Framework for the country.
Remulla said the partnership with the UNODC is important in advancing anti-corruption measures, institutional capacity building, and international cooperation.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court partnered with the UNODC and the UN High Commission for Human Rights to hold a workshop for judicial and court officials from South and Southeast Asia.
