The National Bureau of Investigation (National Bureau of Investigation) will seek the cancellation of all firearms licenses of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, declaring him “armed and dangerous” following his disappearance from Senate protective custody.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the bureau is preparing a legal request to the Philippine National Police’s Firearms and Explosives Office to revoke the senator’s gun privileges due to his alleged evasion of legal processes, including an International Criminal Court warrant.
Authorities noted that dela Rosa reportedly holds 118 licensed firearms, prompting heightened security concerns for law enforcement units tracking his whereabouts.
The NBI stressed that firearms licensing is a privilege that may be revoked by the government, and that continued possession after cancellation would be considered illegal. Police officials said they would act on any formal request in accordance with existing firearms laws and administrative procedures.
The development comes amid intensified coordination among law enforcement agencies to locate the missing senator, who was last seen with Sen. Robinhood Padilla before disappearing from Senate premises.
