The Senate plans to remove thousands of infrastructure projects from the proposed 2027 national budget if the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) fails to submit complete supporting documents by Nov. 3.
Senate Finance Committee Chairman JV Ejercito said the review found that DPWH projects increased from 11,420 to 16,244 after 6,271 new projects were introduced by lawmakers.
Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian backed the move, saying projects without required documents, feasibility studies, and local government resolutions would be removed.
The Senate also plans to publish project details through its Transparency Portal to prevent irregularities.
Meanwhile, Ejercito is pushing for the MIND Act to set stricter, long-term standards for infrastructure planning.
