The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), led by OIC Chief Supt. Wilberto Rico Neil Kwan Tiu, strengthened its emergency response capabilities through international collaboration at the SIDEX 2026 and Asian Conference on Disaster Reduction in Singapore.
The event allowed BFP officials to learn international best practices and explore new firefighting and rescue technologies.
Meanwhile, 15 BFP junior officers completed disaster response training at the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service Academy in South Korea through a KOICA program.
The BFP is also set to modernize its aging fleet through the proposed acquisition of new fire trucks from South Korea.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the government-to-government deal aims to improve emergency response while ensuring a transparent and cost-efficient procurement process.
