The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reported a decline in passenger traffic at major ports during this year’s Undas, attributing the drop to the short three-day holiday break.
Batangas Port recorded a 13 percent decrease in passengers, while Lucena Port saw a 19 percent decline compared to last year.
PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said some travelers may postpone their trips to take advantage of the longer five-day break in November due to the ASEAN Summit.
The agency expects around 1.93 million passengers to travel through Philippine ports from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5.
Meanwhile, the PPA has strengthened port security, improved passenger facilities, and provided free shuttle services and online reservations to ensure smoother travel.
