PROPOSAL TO MONITOR HOUSE SPENDING, INFRA PROJECTS REJECTED

The House of Representatives rejected Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco’s proposals to publicly disclose the chamber’s spending and list infrastructure projects assigned to each congressional district.

Tiangco said the measures aimed to strengthen transparency and accountability in the House.

The first proposal sought quarterly spending reports and annual expense disclosures, while the second called for an itemized list of public works projects by district.

House Appropriations Committee chair Mikaela Suansing said the spending reports fall under the Commission on Audit and that DPWH projects are already publicly listed.

The House has been allotted P17.2 billion for next year, with lawmakers later approving an additional P5 billion.
