The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has seized or collected nearly 1,000 firearms through its “Oplan Katok” initiative, announced Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan on Monday.
This operation involves house-to-house visits by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to remind gun owners to renew their licenses or to voluntarily surrender unregistered firearms.
Maranan praised the QCPD’s 16 police stations for their successful enforcement of the program, which aims to ensure that all firearms are properly accounted for and securely managed.
He emphasized that firearm ownership comes with serious responsibilities and legal obligations.
The initiative is part of QCPD’s broader efforts to enhance public safety and compliance with firearm regulations.
