Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) chief Brig. Gen. Jessie Tamayao resigned from his post following a sexual harassment complaint filed by a female police officer before the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
Tamayao denied the allegations and said his decision to step down aims to ensure a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation without any perceived influence.
The complainant accused him of making sexual advances, inappropriate physical contact, and issuing threats of reassignment if she refused his actions.
She also alleged that Tamayao accessed her cellphone without consent and gathered private information, which he supposedly threatened to use against her.
The case involves alleged violations of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 and the Data Privacy Act of 2012, with the complainant seeking his dismissal from service.
