The Philippines recorded 4,633 new HIV cases from January to March 2026, with the National Capital Region posting the highest number of infections, according to the Department of Health-Epidemiology Bureau.
The DOH said 95 percent of the newly-confirmed cases involved males, while individuals aged 25 to 34 remained the most affected age group.
An average of 51 HIV cases were recorded daily during the first quarter, and 24 percent of newly-diagnosed patients already had advanced HIV disease upon detection.
NCR accounted for 989 cases, followed by CALABARZON with 808 and Central Luzon with 551.
Since 1984, the Philippines has logged 168,079 confirmed HIV cases, with health officials noting that infections continue to increasingly affect younger Filipinos.
