The Philippines retained 20th place among 145 economies in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Gender Gap Index, despite a slight decline in its gender parity score to 78% from 78.1% last year.
The country ranked third in East Asia and the Pacific and remained among the region’s stronger performers.
The Philippines improved in health and survival and political empowerment but slipped in economic participation and educational attainment rankings.
Over the past two decades, the country has narrowed its overall gender gap by 2.8 percentage points from 75.2% in 2006.
Iceland topped the rankings for the 17th consecutive year, followed by Finland and Norway.
