President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the send-off of 290 doctors under the Doctors to the Barrios (DTTB) Program to improve healthcare access in underserved communities.
The 43rd batch marks the largest deployment in the program’s history, bringing the total number of deployed physicians to nearly 3,000 since 1993.
Marcos highlighted that the initiative helped achieve zero doctorless municipalities nationwide in 2025, a major milestone in public health.
He stressed, however, that continuous and accessible healthcare services must be ensured beyond simply assigning doctors to remote areas.
The government also pledged stronger support for healthcare workers through investments in training, safety, and well-being as they serve in geographically isolated communities.
