President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved an additional P3 billion to strengthen the government’s repatriation and reintegration program for overseas Filipino workers displaced by the conflict in the Middle East.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said the funding will cover transportation, pre-departure assistance, and reintegration services, including financial aid, counseling, medical assessment, employment guidance, and livelihood support.
Marcos directed that returning OFWs continue receiving assistance after arriving in the country, particularly those returning to their home provinces and seeking economic opportunities.
The Department of Migrant Workers has also expanded reintegration efforts through job fairs and livelihood programs, while the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration provides up to P20,000 in startup assistance for qualified beneficiaries.
As of June 17, the government had safely repatriated 10,446 Filipinos from the Middle East, including 8,281 OFWs, through humanitarian flights.
