More than 11,000 repatriated overseas Filipino workers have returned to the Philippines following the latest arrival of 322 household service workers and their dependents from Kuwait.
Most of the returnees from Kuwait were overstaying workers whose visas had expired but who remained in the country for work or family reasons.
Migrant expert Manny Geslani said deployment to the Middle East is expected to remain flat due to tensions involving the United States and Iran and concerns over possible disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Department of Migrant Workers also reported a decline in OFW deployment as many applicants postponed or withdrew their job applications.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said workers are becoming more cautious because of ongoing security and geopolitical concerns in the region.
