President Marcos has ordered agencies to personally assess infrastructure needs in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG), Malacañan said.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed that DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon will visit the islands to evaluate ongoing and proposed projects.
The assessment may lead to the construction of a port and an airway to improve access to the area.
Funding for the Lawak Island shelter port and Pag-asa Island airport was allocated for 2025, but implementation will be reviewed to ensure compliance with the President’s directives.
The KIG, part of the West Philippine Sea, remains a priority for improving facilities for residents and security personnel.
