The Department of Education, in partnership with PhilHealth, has expanded the YAKAP at Kalinga Caravan to provide free medical checkups, essential medicines, and preventive care directly to students, especially in underserved communities.
The initiative, led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, aims to remove health-related barriers to learning and improve student well-being.
During the latest caravan in Bogo City, Cebu, around 200 students received medical consultations, lab tests, reading glasses, and medicines to address common health issues.
The program also supports safer learning environments, including disaster-resilient classrooms, and reduces out-of-pocket expenses for families.
With stops at several schools nationwide, the caravan will continue to expand to reach more students, ensuring accessible healthcare and improved learning outcomes.
