Senator Sherwin Gatchalian praised the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) for expanding its freeze orders on assets linked to the flood control corruption scandal.
The Court of Appeals approved a new freeze order targeting 592 bank accounts, insurance policies, vehicles, and properties tied to the alleged anomalies.
Gatchalian called the move crucial for holding those responsible accountable and recovering stolen public funds.
AMLC Executive Director Matthew David said the asset freeze reflects the wide scale of corruption involved.
Gatchalian also stressed the importance of strengthening the AMLC to detect better and prevent financial crimes.
