The Department of Education (DepEd) has launched the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) system to speed up and make teacher promotions fairer by focusing on merit and qualifications rather than vacant positions.
This reform introduces new teaching roles and two career tracks—Classroom Teaching and School Administration—allowing teachers to advance through position reclassification once they meet required standards.
Grounded in professional standards, the ECP aims to boost teacher morale and keep top educators in the classroom to improve education quality.
The system will transition over three years, with provisions for current school leaders to retain their roles without salary loss.
DepEd also plans to strengthen teacher training through the National Educators Academy of the Philippines to support career growth alongside the new promotion system.
