The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) proposed a “buy one, give one” program where they will purchase an additional police vehicle for every unit bought by Metro Manila local government units.
This initiative aims to improve the police vehicle-to-population ratio in the National Capital Region, which currently has fewer police vehicles compared to less populous areas like Cavite.
DILG Secretary Benjamin Remulla emphasized that the plan aligns with President Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen emergency and crisis response nationwide.
The agency also plans to buy more police motorcycles to address the gap in riding competency among officers and mini fire trucks for better access in narrow urban areas.
Recently, DILG supported greener law enforcement by facilitating the turnover of 41 electric vehicles to Valenzuela City under the 2024 Local Government Support Fund.
