Former Senator Richard Gordon said the Republican Party’s defeat in the November 3 US midterm elections should serve as a reminder to world leaders to prioritize the needs and welfare of the people.
He urged Philippine leaders to learn from the setback, stressing that public service should focus on people’s interests rather than personal gain.
Gordon cited the Trump administration’s spending on projects such as a new White House ballroom and a triumphal arch as examples of misplaced priorities amid rising living costs, high fuel prices, and limited healthcare access.
He said these issues contributed to public dissatisfaction, particularly among struggling American families.
Gordon emphasized that leaders should be judged by their ability to improve people’s lives, reiterating that the public must always come first.
