DEPED REPORTS P1.4-BILLION SAVINGS FOR TEACHER LAPTOP PURCHASE

The Department of Education (DepEd) saved at least P1.4 billion in procuring more than 231,000 laptops for public school teachers and administrative staff through competitive bidding.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the purchase includes MacBook Neo and Windows-based laptops, each with a five-year extended warranty.

The package also covers productivity tools, nationwide delivery, and professional training for recipients.

Laptop distribution will begin on Nov. 9, with suppliers given until March 2027 to complete deliveries.

DepEd will prioritize schools and teachers who have yet to receive government-issued laptops.
