Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will visit the Philippines on Nov. 13 to attend the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit from Nov. 16 to 18.
The visit marks his second consecutive invitation to the regional gathering as the Philippines and Brazil celebrate 80 years of diplomatic relations.
The Philippine National Police is preparing to deploy personnel and resources to secure foreign leaders, delegates, and summit venues.
Meanwhile, the government is preparing to announce possible flight disruptions due to the arrival of foreign leaders.
Several transport and tourism initiatives, including free train and jeepney rides and Filipino art exhibits, are also being rolled out ahead of the summit.
