The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines urged DepEd and DBM to release the full P20,000 service recognition incentive (SRI) for teachers before New Year’s Day.
ACT chairperson Ruby Bernardo said delays or partial releases cause unnecessary anxiety for educators who have long faced stagnant wages and rising costs.
She called on DepEd to streamline internal processes and for DBM to promptly issue budgetary approvals to ensure timely distribution.
The SRI, approved by President Marcos through Administrative Order No. 40, is intended as immediate relief for eligible education workers.
ACT warned that any shortfall or delay beyond the New Year would undermine the purpose of the incentive and demoralize teachers.
