Manila 6th District Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante sought the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday over alleged false and malicious claims posted online by vloggers.
Abante met with NBI Director Melvin Matibag to request an investigation, saying the accusations had crossed the line.
He said the alleged attacks had been circulating for about a week and that his team had been gathering evidence.
The lawmaker estimated that around five to 10 vloggers could be involved but declined to disclose further details while the investigation is pending.
Abante urged his critics to express their opinions honestly and stop spreading what he described as fake news and baseless allegations.
