The Cebu provincial government has temporarily reduced terminal fees for public utility vehicles (PUVs) at Capitol-run bus terminals to help drivers and commuters cope with rising fuel prices.
The three-month measure, effective March 25 to June 24, lowers bus and minibus fees from P250 to P200 per entry, V-hire fees from P200 to P150, and taxi fees from P20 to P10.
Governor Pamela Baricuatro said the fee cut provides immediate financial relief and could help prevent fare hikes.
Terminal administrator Ahmed Cuizon noted that while revenue collections may drop, the primary goal of the terminals is public service, not profit.
The fee rates will be reviewed after three months, with the possibility of extension depending on fuel prices and operators’ financial conditions.
