Around 1,500 Chinese tourists and nearly 800 crew members arrived in Boracay on Saturday aboard the luxury cruise ship MS Adora Mediterranea, marking its maiden visit to the island.
The vessel, which came from Xiamen, China, docked at 8 a.m. and departed at 8 p.m., giving passengers a full-day experience.
Local officials and tourism stakeholders welcomed the visitors with a ceremonial plaque exchange and cultural performances showcasing Western Visayas’ heritage.
The arrival, the first cruise visit to Boracay in April, coincides with the end of Holy Week, providing a boost to the province’s tourism activity.
Authorities said the visit is expected to generate economic benefits for local businesses while enhancing Boracay’s appeal in the international cruise market.
