Water sports activities at Boracay Island were temporarily suspended on Thursday to accommodate a sunset cruise for ASEAN ministers.
The Philippine Coast Guard halted tourist activities, including island hopping, scuba diving, helmet diving, and paraw sailing, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The suspension was coordinated with the Aklan provincial government and Malay local authorities to ensure the safety of the ministers and other delegates.
Economic ministers from 11 ASEAN countries, along with representatives from Timor-Leste, are visiting Boracay for the Senior Economic Officials’ Meeting until December 13.
Vessels in the area were instructed to maintain a safe distance during the event.
