More taxpayers are filing and paying their annual income tax returns online as the April 15 deadline approaches, reflecting growing confidence in the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s digital systems.
BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said the trend shows improved trust in faster, safer, and more efficient tax compliance through online platforms.
To assist taxpayers, the agency has set up e-filing centers and e-lounges in revenue district offices nationwide, which are open even on Saturdays.
Mendoza also encouraged early filing and on-time payment, noting that AITR collections are crucial to meeting the BIR’s 2026 revenue target.
The BIR reported that early-year collections have already exceeded its target, supported by strong voluntary compliance.
