BASECO HOSTS COASTAL CLEANUP WITH 6,000 PARTICIPANTS

Around 6,000 volunteers joined the 41st International Coastal Cleanup at Baseco Beach in Tondo, Manila, collecting waste and debris washed ashore.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) designated Baseco Beach as its flagship cleanup site, with 291 other areas also targeted for marine waste removal.

DENR Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna urged Filipinos to reduce waste, segregate properly, reuse materials, and dispose of garbage responsibly.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno supported the initiative and stressed the importance of proper waste management and reducing single-use plastics.

He said garbage that reaches the sea threatens the environment, public health, livelihoods, and the future of children.
