OpenAI is accelerating its fundraising efforts ahead of rival Anthropic’s expected initial public offering (IPO) in November 2026, according to people familiar with the discussions.
The ChatGPT developer is reportedly seeking around $30 billion in new funding, potentially pushing its valuation above $1.4 trillion.
Existing investors, including Japan’s SoftBank Group and Abu Dhabi-based MGX, are reportedly in talks to participate in the funding round.
The accelerated timetable reflects intensifying competition between the two artificial intelligence companies for major investors as both pursue trillion-dollar valuations.
However, rising interest rates, volatile technology stocks and growing scrutiny of AI infrastructure costs could complicate fundraising and IPO plans across the industry.
