Around 1,600 learners from Kawmpang Elementary School in Sulu received free medical, dental, vision, and mental health services through the YAKAP Health and Kalinga Caravan.
The initiative was held during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s visit to Sulu on October 20 to improve healthcare access for students in geographically isolated communities.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara, PhilHealth BARMM, and the Department of Health led the activity.
Students underwent health assessments to detect conditions that could affect their learning and well-being.
PhilHealth also assisted parents and guardians with membership registration, profile updates, and enrollment in YAKAP clinics.
