Former DPWH district engineer Henry Alcantara and contractor Sally Santos have been removed as respondents in Bulacan graft and malversation cases after being admitted as state witnesses under the Witness Protection Program, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Thursday.
Their testimony will support investigations into alleged anomalies in flood control projects involving Santos’ company, SYMS Construction Trading.
Alcantara and Santos join former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo and ex-regional director Gerard Opulencia as state witnesses in the cases.
The three cases were initially filed in Bulacan courts between January and February before being transferred to a special anti-corruption court in Quezon City.
Pre-trial proceedings for two of the cases are scheduled on April 13 at Branch 79 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
