Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno said on Thursday that concerns raised by the National Unity Party (NUP) over the slow release of funds by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) have been resolved through the efforts of Majority Leader Sandro Marcos.
The issues involved delayed allocations for key infrastructure projects and social programs such as medical assistance and livelihood support.
Puno noted that the NUP is now in constructive dialogue with Marcos to address the concerns of district representatives nationwide.
Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III had earlier criticized the DBM for slow fund releases, urging the agency to implement the budget properly so that programs reach their intended beneficiaries on time.
The resolution of the funding issues comes amid previous dissatisfaction within the NUP over Dy’s leadership, though lawmakers continue to support timely budget implementation.
