Senator Joel Villanueva welcomed the hiring of 10,000 non-teaching personnel as a positive move for the education sector.
He praised the government’s earlier effort to recruit 20,000 teachers ahead of the new school year.
Villanueva noted that the additional staff will help fulfill DepEd’s directive to relieve teachers of administrative tasks that take time away from teaching.
He highlighted that teachers currently handle over 50 non-teaching duties, which negatively affect teaching quality.
The senator emphasized that filling these vacant positions will not only create jobs but also improve education by allowing teachers to focus on addressing the country’s learning crisis.
