The state weather bureau, PAGASA, has forecasted extreme heat in 19 areas across the country on Sunday, May 25, with heat index values reaching up to 46°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
Several locations, including Batangas, Aurora, Iloilo, and Cagayan, are under the “danger” heat classification, with temperatures ranging from 42°C to 45°C.
Other regions are expected to experience “extreme caution” and “caution” levels with lower heat indices.
PAGASA advised residents in affected areas to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and limit strenuous outdoor activities to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone, some parts of Visayas, Mindanao, Palawan, and Luzon may experience scattered rain and thunderstorms, with warnings for possible flash floods and landslides.
